“Green into the City” is developed based on “Weeds Flow”, an original work of Dancecology.

Walking amongst black stones and white walls...
Vines turn into time fissures firmly rooted in the underground city below Taipei,
Creating a realm composed of a marriage between dance and nature,
Your mood flows with the rhythm of the body...
Instantly passing through the MRT tunnel, you reach suburbs filled with natural greenery and mountains.

By projecting on multiply layers of gauzes that create a gigantic and floating live-carrier, dancers of “Weeds” series wander in space. Audiences can watch, touch, walk through, even dance with the dancers. Using video projection technic, this work breaks the barrier of viewers and performers.

Beyond this work
Based on the idea of Environmental theater,  Dancecology staged the first original performance art work Wondering in the forest at outdoor Forest Theater in Kuandu Arts Festival 2009. In two years, this concept continues to grow. “Weeds” series are launched in various and wonderful places all around Taipei city(1). In June 2010, they brings the crowd the most splendid piece Weeds Flow in Bamboo Curtain Studio.
“Weeds” series focus on the distinguishing characteristic of each dancer and interpret the integration between peculiar body movement and natural environment. Dancecology emphasis the “symbiosis” with mother nature and create the symbolic imagination and cognition with audiences.
This years, they present the exhibition Green into the City using video and installation art to reenforce the spirit of “Weeds” series. The work recreates the rhythm of lives and builds a secret garden of dancing and the nature within the museum.

Concept
Environmental theater is one of the core value of Dancecology. Taking advantage of different environmental features,  each work contains unique designs as the spacial characteristics change. “Green into the City” consists of three original pieces from “Weeds” series. Pictures of various textures are tri-projected on  multiple layers of gauzes to build a three-dimensional dynamics beneath the skylight.
